American Academy of Family Physicians Foundation: Family Medicine Cares USADeadline: July 15, 2019
The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) Foundation advances the values of Family Medicine by promoting humanitarian, educational, and scientific initiatives that improve the health of people and communities. The Foundation advances those values through Family Medicine Cares USA grants by supporting free health clinics that provide a base of care infused with Family Medicine.
Family Medicine Cares USA provides monetary grants through the following programs:
- New Clinics: Grants help new, free clinics open their doors. Applicants for a Family Medicine Cares USA grant must be a new clinic nearing completion of the Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) clinic development process, have an AAFP member in a leadership role within the clinic, and meet specified criteria as stated in the Grant Guidelines and Requirements.
- Existing Clinics: Grants help existing free clinics care for the uninsured in their communities. Grant applications are accepted from clinics who have an AAFP member in an active leadership role within the organization.
Amount: Dependent on program, as follows:
- New Clinics: Grants of up to $25,000 are available
- Existing Clinics: Grants of up to $10,000 are available
Eligibility: Grant applications are accepted from clinics who have an AAFP member in an active leadership role within the organization (see solicitation for more details on eligibility). Priority will be given to clinics with an AAFP member serving as medical director and to those who have Family Medicine residents and/or medical students involved as volunteers.
