American Public Transportation Association: Local Coalition GrantsDeadline: July 9, 2018
The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Local Coalition Grants will fund projects focused on grassroots advocacy efforts that can help achieve specific state and local public transportation goals. Projects that support local or regional funding initiatives intended to help support public transportation are highly encouraged. Other activities could include: activities supportive of of national efforts reauthorize federal surface transportation programs and bolster support for transit in federal infrastructure initiatives.
Additional activities could include projects in partnership with local Chambers of Commerce or other prominent business organizations that support public transportation and community mobility and efforts to educate decision-makers about policies favorable to public transportation. Grant recipients are also expected to be vocal advocates with their respective federal representatives on federal issues related to public transportation and attend the NAPTA (National Alliance of Public Transportation Advocates) advocacy day in March 2019.
Amount: Grants of up to $10,000 will be made.
Eligibility: Any local public transportation coalition is eligible, provided it has the support of the local APTA transit system member(s) and is a member of the National Alliance of Public Transportation Advocates (NAPTA). For this grant program, a coalition is defined as a collection of groups and/or individuals joined together for the common purpose of promoting transit.
