Amphion Foundation: Presenters, Festivals, and Music Service Associations
The Amphion Foundation’s grant program objective is to encourage the performance of contemporary concert music, particularly by American composers, through support to performing and presenting organizations that have demonstrated sustained artistic excellence, in addition to music service organizations and other organizations that support contemporary music.
This grant opportunity is for Presenters, Festivals, Music Service Organizations, and any other applicants that are not Performing Ensembles. Applicable types of applicants are detailed further below:
- Presenters such as music festivals, music venues, and any other organization that organizes and presents live (contemporary) musical performances by a variety of performing groups
- Music service organizations which are organizations that support composers and performers through grants, residencies, training programs, etc. or aid in the preservation and dissemination of contemporary concert music
Project support will be given only for a project that begins in the current season. For the 2019 grant round, support will only be given to projects that begin between September 2019 and August 2020. The Foundation will consider projects that fall outside of the period of support under extraordinary circumstances.
Amount: Grants range from $1,000-$7,500.
Eligibility: Applications may be submitted by publicly supported nonprofit or fiscally-sponsored organizations that have a history of substantial commitment to contemporary concert music at a high level of excellence. Organizations must have been in existence for at least two years. Applicant organizations that are applying for support for performances must have presented two full seasons prior to the season for which support is requested, except for special projects of extraordinary significance. Applications from organizations with a budget of over $10 million will be considered only for special project support.
Note: In general, the grant program does not support jazz music.
