Captain Planet Foundation: EcoTech GrantsDeadline: March 15, 2016
The mission of the Captain Planet Foundation is to give the next generation of environmental stewards an active understanding and love for the natural world in which they live. The Foundation funds and supports hands-on environmental projects that inspire and empower children and youth around the world as they work individually and collectively creating environmental solutions in their homes, schools, and communities.
The EcoTech grant will engage children in inquiry-based projects in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) that use innovation, biomimicry / nature-based design, or new uses for technology to address environmental problems in their communities. Ideal projects integrate environmental education with opportunities for children to solve real world problems by using science practices and technology to help care for the environment. Projects may replicate successful models or create new and innovative approaches. Preference will be given to student-directed projects that promise deliverables that will make the pkroject easy to replicate by others, such as lesson plans, protocols, videos, adaptations, and examples of student work.
Amount: Up to 17 $2,500 grants will be made. Preference is given to organizations that have secured 50% match funding for their project.
Eligibility: U.S. based schools and organizations with an annual operating budget of less than $3 million.
Note: Grants are reviewed as received and made until funds are exhausted.
