J.M. Kaplan Fund: Furthermore Grants in Publishing

Furthermore Grants in Publishing, a program of the J. M. Kaplan Fund, supports publication of nonfiction books. Furthermore grants assist nonfiction books having to do with art, architecture, and design; cultural history, the city, and related public issues; and conservation and preservation. Furthermore looks for work that appeals to an informed general audience; gives evidence of high standards in editing, design, and production; and promises a reasonable shelf life. Applications are reviewed by a group of scholars, publishers, and individuals; they collectively identify the projects that receive Furthermore grants.

Amount: $1,500-$15,000.

Eligibility: Nonprofit organizations with IRS 501(c) status. Grants are awarded internationally; however, approximately two-thirds of grants are made in New York.
