MacArthur Foundation: 100&Change

100&Change is a competition for a $100,000,000 grant to fund a single proposal that promises real and measurable progress in solving a critical problem of today. MacArthur Foundation will consider proposals from any field or problem area.

Some problems cannot be solved by grants of the size that foundations typically provide. By funding at a level far above what is typical in philanthropy, the Foundation can address problems and support solutions that are radically different in scale, scope, and complexity. $100,000,000 is a large enough sum to focus on a serious problem and its solution in a meaningful and lasting way. The Foundation hopes that 100&Change can inspire a conversation about solutions and about how to solve some of today’s most significant problems. The Foundation seeks proposals that articulate both a problem and its solution. Competitive proposals will address a significant problem and provide a solution that is impactful, evidence-based, feasible, and durable.

Award: One award of $100,000,000 will be made.

Eligibility: 100&Change is open to organizations and collaborations working in any field, anywhere in the world, including:

• Organizations under section 501(c)(3) and 509(a)(1) or equivalent nonprofit organizations, including NGOs (non-governmental organization), foundations, and universities
• For-profit organizations, including limited liability corporations, benefit corporations, or hybrid organizations
