National Council of Teachers of Mathematics: Emerging Teacher-Leaders in Elementary School Mathematics Grades PreK-5
The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics is accepting proposals to increase mathematics content knowledge of elementary school teachers who has a demonstrated commitment to mathematics teaching and learning. The award is for individual classroom teachers. The grant recipient will provide ongoing professional development to teachers within the school or district to strengthen their mathematical understandings and instructional practices. The professional development must include sustained in-service programs focusing on improving the content knowledge of the elementary teachers within the school or district and working with teachers in their classrooms through demonstration teaching or co-teaching.
Amount: Up to $6,000 each will be awarded.
Eligibility: Applicants must be a current NCTM member (on or before October 15, 2015), a classroom (elementary school) teacher with at least three years of experience, and teach mathematics as a regular responsibility. Applicants must have the support of the school principal. Only one teacher per school may receive the award.
