New Mexico Public Education Department: K-3 Plus Summer 2016
Qualifying schools are encouraged to apply for the K–3 Plus Summer 2016 program. The K–3 Plus program is a 25-day extension of the regular school year, emphasizing literacy and math and targeting high-needs students. The emphasis of K–3 Plus is on increasing quality instructional time, rather than providing remediation. Currently, K–3 Plus programs are conducted in 47 districts and 1 state chartered school.
Amount: Initial awards are based on projected enrollment from the application and past enrollment history (see the NM Public Education Department’s Technical Assistance Guide for more details regarding funding specifics).
Eligibility: The K–3 Plus program is available to schools with at least 80% students eligible for free or reduced-fee lunch, or schools with a D or F overall school grade for the prior school year. K–3 Plus programs must be scheduled within two months of the upcoming school year.
