New Mexico Public Education Department: Strengthening Tribal Programs

The Strengthening Tribal Programs grant will continue to support the revitalization, maintenance, and sustainability of native languages and to support the strengthening of tribal education programs. Funding will support applicants who submit an application for a native language program or tribal department of education. Applicants are asked to select a focus area(s) (no more than two focus areas) from Category A or B (detailed below) to ensure sustainable quality deliverables at the end of the grant period.

  • Category A: Native Language and Culture Program – Focus areas include: 1) Community; 2) Program Administration; 3) Policy Development; 4) Curriculum Development; and 5) Professional Development.
  • Category B: Tribal Department of Education – Focus areas include: 1) Interagency Partnerships; 2) Program Administration; 3) Policy Development; and 4) Student Centered.

Amount: Grants of up to $30,000 will be awarded for a one year period.

Eligibility: Eligible applicants must be a New Mexico tribe, nation, or pueblo.
