Presbyterian Mission Agency: Presbyterian Women Thank Offering Grants

Presbyterian Women (PW) is an independent organization within the Presbyterian Church (USA) of more than 300,000 women. The programming and resource options for the organization offer a variety of ways for women to live out their faith in an inclusive, caring community. To qualify, a program must:

  • Have a clearly defined purpose that meets basic human needs. The purpose must be in accordance with the mission, goals, and policies of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
  • Provide a form of aid that relates directly to the people being served.
  • Be a creative project less than three years old or an existing project moving in a new direction.

Thank Offering Grants fund projects that meet the needs of people who are aging, disabled, homeless, or displaced, as well as children, youth, and women through educational, health, peace, and justice programs. Forty percent of the offering is used to support hospitals and community health programs. The remaining 60 percent is used for new creative ideas.

Amount: Thank Offering Grants fund 20 to 30 projects a year; grants typically range between $5,000 and $50,000.

Eligibility: Presbyterian Church (USA) governing bodies, health agencies, overseas churches, ecumenical councils, community groups, educational institutions, and church-related groups. Applicants are asked to provide a written endorsement from a Presbyterian Women’s group of a local church, Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery Coordinating Team, or Presbyterian Women in the Synod Coordinating Team (desirable, but not necessary). New Mexico is within the Synod of the Southwest (www.synodsw.org/about).
