Shubert Foundation: Dance, Arts Organizations, and Education Grants
The Shubert Foundation is dedicated to sustaining and advancing live performing arts, with a particular emphasis on theatre and a secondary focus on dance. The Foundation provides general operating support to professional theatre and dance companies, as well as some arts-related organizations that help support their development.
The Foundation is currently accepting application for the following categories:
- Dance: The Shubert Foundation views dance as a critical art form, one that is closely related to theatre.
- Arts related organizations: Grants to organizations that help support the development of theatre and dance are based principally on an assessment of their work, as demonstrated by past and current performance. Impact, administrative strength, and fiscal stability are factored into each evaluation.
- Education: A limited number of grants are made to graduate drama departments of private universities. These departments are evaluated principally in terms of their ability to train and develop theatre artists.
Amount: Grants range between $10,000-$325,000 and average $10,000-$75,000. Applicants may not request a specific grant amount; if the foundation decides to fund an organization, it will also determine the amount of the grant.
Eligibility: Tax-exempt, nonprofit organizations that have an established artistic and administrative track record, as well as a history of fiscal responsibility. Giving is on a national basis.
