The Atlantic and Allstate: Renewal AwardsDeadline: November 30, 2018
The Renewal Awards contest is a nationwide competition that was created to celebrate the social innovation demonstrated by thousands of nonprofits that are finding creative solutions to America’s most pressing problems. The Renewal Awards recognizes these organizations and individuals as they drive positive change in their communities—and helps them make an even bigger impact.
Nominated nonprofits will be judged on:
- Unique approach to public good works
- Existing positive impact on community
- Potential program impact for the future
- Impact to date, based on publicly available information
- Presence and reviews on Charity Navigator, Guidestar, and GreatNonprofits.org
- The quality of a submitted 200 word essay
Fifteen finalists will be subject to a public voting process. The public voting will account for 20% of a submission’s overall contest score. The panel of judges will account for 80% of a submission’s overall contest score to ensure this is still a skill-based award.
Amount: Five winners will receive a grant for $20,000 for creating innovative solutions in their communities; one of the winners will additionally be presented with the Allstate Youth Empowerment Award.
Eligibility: The Renewal Awards contest is open to nominators (i.e., persons submitting a nomination) who are legal U.S. residents of the 50 United States (excluding Puerto Rico) and the District of Columbia who are 21 years or older at the time of entry and nonprofits (i.e., 501(c)(3) organizations who are the subject of a nomination).
