The College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) provides academic and financial support to help migrant and seasonal farmworkers and members of their immediate family complete their first year of college and continue in postsecondary education. CAMP includes one competitive preference priority and two invitational priorities:
- Competitive Preference Priority – Prior Experience of Service Delivery (up to 15 points): For applicants with an expiring CAMP project, the Secretary will consider the applicant’s prior experience in implementing its expiring CAMP project, based on information contained in documents previously provided, such as annual performance reports, project evaluation reports, site visit reports, and the previously approved CAMP application.
- Invitational Priority 1 — Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Education (STEM): Projects that are designed to address one or more of the following priority areas: (a) providing students with increased access to rigorous and engaging coursework in STEM; and (b) increasing the number and proportion of students prepared for postsecondary or graduate study and careers in STEM, with a specific focus on an increase in the number and proportion of students so prepared who are from groups traditionally underrepresented in STEM careers, including minorities, individuals with disabilities, and women.
- Invitational Priority 2 — Faith-Based and Community Organizations: Applications that propose to engage faith-based and community organizations in the delivery of services under this program.
Amount: A total of $4,537,279 is available to fund up to 11 grants, ranging from $180,000-$425,000 and averaging around $412,479. The project period is for five years.
Eligibility: Institutions of higher education (IHEs) or private non-profit organizations (including faith-based organizations) that plan their projects in cooperation with an IHE and propose to operate the project with the facilities of the IHE.
