Join Us for TGP’s 20th Birthday Party!

20 years ago, I didn’t have the luxury of asking ChatGPT what was going on in 2003. I would have had to research (even Google was relatively new) or – gasp – try to remember.

But now I do have this luxury. “The year was marked by a mix of political, scientific, cultural, and technological advancements, as well as tragic events that shaped the course of history.” It goes on to describe the following events:

  • Iraq War (Second Gulf War)
  • Space Shuttle Columbia Disaster
  • SARS Outbreak
  • European Heat Wave
  • The Human Genome Project
  • Launch of iTunes Store
  • Release of “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger Becomes Governor
  • Concorde’s Final Flight
  • Lance Armstrong’s Tour de France Victory

Doesn’t seem like much has changed. Wars, pandemics, heat waves, athletic scandals? We’ve still got those! But what did it leave out?

The Grant Plant was born! 

Over the years, Erin and I have reflected on a few of our birthdays (here’s 15 years, and here’s 10 years), and occasionally invited our clients to events (here’s the User Stories session and here’s our Open House). Each year when we release the results of the prior year’s impact measures, which we started doing in 2010, there’s some form of musings on the business (some oldies but goodies… 2009, 2013, 2014). And don’t get me started on the year that was 2020; I think that year left all of us in deep-reflection mode.

Now here we are, 20 years in business and celebrating what has been built. We are counting our blessings and inviting all of our clients, partners, and the wider TGP Family (and our literal families) to our 20th birthday party! In true 2023 style, our invitation was generated by ChatGPT (then curated by Molly, our excellent Operations & Project Manager). We can’t wait to see what the next 20 years brings!

Who: TGP staff, local nonprofit leaders, partners, funders, friends, and family.

What: A fun, casual opportunity to acknowledge the hard work of Team TGP and our clients, and to network and enjoy drinks & appetizers. Drink tickets will be available (2 drink tickets per person).

When: September 7, 2023, drop in from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Why: Now in its 20th year of business, The Grant Plant celebrates more than $240 million in funded proposals that help tax-exempt organizations secure the resources they need to improve the lives of New Mexicans. We have the honor of working with some of our state’s most visionary and resourceful leaders to help create programs and services that are making a meaningful difference in people’s lives. While we don’t build the playgrounds, run the health clinics, or create new murals to brighten a neighborhood, we help make them possible.
