U.S. Department of Agriculture: Foundational and Applied Science Program

This Program provides funding for fundamental and applied research, education, and extension projects in the food and agricultural sciences. The Program has six priority areas: 1) Plant health and production and plant products; 2) Animal health and production and animal products; 3) Food safety, nutrition, and health; 4) Bioenergy, natural resources, and environment; 5) Agriculture systems and technology, and; 6) Agriculture economics and rural communities. Amount: Approximately $290 million is available. COVID-19, 19, especially on domestic and international markets, food supply chain, farmers, youth, and rural communities, is an important topic for the Agriculture Economics and Rural Communities priority. Eligibility: Institutions of higher education, State Agriculture Experiment Station, university research foundations, organizations and corporations, individuals, and national laboratories. Two grant cycles include; one with 2021 deadlines and one with 2022 deadlines.
