Annual World of Children Award Program

The World of Children Award was created to recognize and elevate those selfless individuals who make a difference in the lives of children across the globe, regardless of political, religious, or geographical boundaries. The program honors individuals in four categories: Education, Humanitarian, Health, and Youth.

  • The Education Award recognizes individuals who are making extraordinary contributions to the lives of vulnerable children in their educational development. This includes individuals who have made and are making education available to severely underserved populations, those who have originated effective methods of learning and teaching, and those whose work creates educational opportunity for children who are challenged or disenfranchised.
  • The Health Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to children in the fields of health, medicine, or the sciences. Nominees must have created, managed, or otherwise supported a sustainable program that has significantly contributed to the improved health of children.
  • The Humanitarian Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to children in the areas of social services, education, or humanitarian services. Nominees must have created, managed, or otherwise supported a sustainable program that has significantly contributed to children’s opportunities to be safe, to learn, and to grow.
  • The Youth Award recognizes youth who are making extraordinary contributions to the lives of other children.

Amount: A minimum of $50,000 will be awarded for the Education, Humanitarian, and Health awards and a minimum of $25,000 for the Youth award.

Eligibility: Applicant eligibility is detailed per category. All nominees must be affiliated with an existing nonprofit organization in good standing, which can receive grant funds if awarded.

  • Nominees for the Education award must: 1) Be the founder or co-founder of an existing nonprofit that primarily focuses on the needs of children. 2) Do this work over and above their normal employment or work for little or no pay; 3) Have been doing this work for a minimum of 10 years; and 4) Not support an organization designed to specifically advance any one religion or political position.
  • Nominees for the Health award must: 1) Have created, managed or otherwise supported a sustainable program which has significantly contributed to the improved health of children; 2) Do this work over and above their normal employment, or work for little or no pay; and 3) Have been doing this work for a minimum of 10 years.
  • Nominees of the Humanitarian award must: 1) Do this work over and above their normal employment, or work for little or no pay; and 2) Have been doing this work for a minimum of 10 years.
  • Nominees of the Youth award must: 1) Be under the age of 21 by the nomination submission deadline; and 2) Have been doing this work for a minimum of three years by the nomination submission deadline.
