Chamiza Foundation
The Chamiza Foundation is committed to supporting the continuation of Pueblo culture. It uses a grassroots approach to grantmaking that supports leadership in Pueblo communities and their efforts to effect positive and innovative change that sustains culture and traditions. Current funding priorities include:
- Language Revitalization
- Sustainable Agriculture
- Traditional Building
- Traditional Arts and Crafts
- Storytelling/Oral History
- Youth Education
- Leadership Programs
- Intercultural Exchange
Amount: Grants average between $4,000-$8,000.
Eligibility:
- New Mexico’s 19 Pueblo Indian tribal communities.
- Ysleta del Sur Pueblo, El Paso, Texas, member of the All Pueblo Council of Governors and the 20th Pueblo.
- Pueblo community leaders and artists.
- Non-Pueblo organizations that serve Pueblo communities. These entities must submit a letter of support from the Governor of the Pueblo as evidence that the community has requested their involvement.
