Children’s Theatre Foundation of America: Aurand Harris Fund

The Children’s Theatre Foundation of America (CTFA) challenges and supports theatre artists to achieve excellence in service to young people. CTFA is committed to the values of diversity, racial equity, and inclusion. CTFA supports theatre artists and organizations that share the Foundation’s values working to address past and current injustices to groups that have been historically disadvantaged and socially, politically, and economically excluded.

The CTFA Aurand Harris Grant and Fellowship Fund will award small and mid-sized theatre grants and individual theatre artist fellowships. To honor Aurand Harris’ intentions, applications will be evaluated on their impact in their environment and in their specific communities to promote theatre and bring the live theatre experience to children throughout the country.

Amount: Grants and Fellowships are limited to awards of up to $2,000.

Eligibility: Applicants must be:

  • 501c3 IRS certified nonprofit theatres in the USA, established for at least three consecutive years, possessing a public record of artistic quality, and with an annual operating budget of under one million dollars. Applicant theatres may apply under an umbrella of another organization’s 501c3 IRS certified nonprofit status if that organization is involved and a partner in the proposed project.
  • An individual professional theatre artist in the USA, working in theatre for young audiences, in the development of his/her artistic excellence. An artist does not have to be connected to a theatre to apply. This can include playwrights, scenic designers, costume designers, lighting designers, and directors and/or teachers.
  • A collaboration of a theatre artist and a small or mid-sized 501c3 IRS certified nonprofit theatre in the USA
