Fuel Up to Play 60

Fuel Up to Play 60 is an in-school nutrition and physical activity program launched by National Dairy Council and the National Football League, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, to help encourage today’s youth to lead healthier lives. The purpose is to help schools increase:

  • Student awareness of the importance of healthy eating and increased physical activity
  • Student access to and consumption of nutrient-rich foods, including low-fat and fat-free dairy, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains
  • Student opportunities for and participation in physical activity in school
  • Sustainable changes to help make school a healthier place

Funds are used for K-12 schools to implement one Healthy Eating Play and one Physical Activity Play from the 2016‐2017 edition of the Fuel Up to Play 60 Playbook. Plays are action strategies that your school can use or adapt to make healthy improvements. Funding ideas include, but are not limited to: breakfast-anytime, anywhere; farm to school; community food access; smarter snacks at school; community playtime; in-class physical activity breaks; dance activities; ramp up recess; and starting a running club.

Amount: Grants range from $300-$4,000.

Eligibility: K-12 schools that meet the following criteria:

  • Schools must be enrolled in Fuel Up to Play 60 for the 2016-2017 school year
  • Schools must participate in the National School Lunch Program
  • Schools must have an enrolled Program Advisor
