National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures: Fund for the Arts
The National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC) Fund for the Arts (NFA) grants program offers various funding opportunities to Latinx artists, arts administrators, ensembles and organizations in the United States and Puerto Rico.
NFA organization grants will support:
* Project based funding: Grants can assist organizations in their efforts to provide quality arts projects and programs. Funds may be used to support the creation, development and/or presentation of an artistic work, a festival, or community arts education program; equipment and material purchases necessary for artistic production; artist fees, research and travel; marketing, production and documenting expenses.
* General operating support: Grants assists arts organizations with operating expenses that strengthen the organization’s infrastructure and ability to fulfill their mission. Funds may be used to support (though are not limited to): capacity-building initiatives; strategic planning; investment in technical capacity and staff development.
NFA artist grant categories include:
* NFA Artist Grants: The Artist Grant is open to Latinx artists or ensembles based in the U.S. or Puerto Rico. The grant supports artists whose work demonstrates excellence and the potential for impacting the Latinx arts field.
* NFA Adán Medrano Legacy Award in Film: This award is open to emerging Latinx video/filmmakers based in the U.S. or Puerto Rico. The award will support dynamic, Latinx cinema production by emerging filmmakers that contribute towards a deeper understanding of Latinx expression and identity. Applicants must be prepared to elaborate on why they identify as an ‘emerging filmmaker’.
Grant funds may be used to support any stage of the creative process including but not limited to living wages, research, production, living expenses, documentation, evaluation, occupancy, travel, training. Grant funds may be used to support an entire project or a specific phase of a project.
Note: there is also a Flamboyan Artist Fellowship open currently that is targeting artists who reside in Puerto Rico.
Amount: Awards are $10,000 each.
Eligibility:
Organizations:
* Must have a mission that is explicitly focused on Latinx art and culture.
* Must be based in the U.S. or Puerto Rico.
* Must have an Executive or Artistic Director who is Latinx and/or a Board of Directors that is comprised of at least 51% Latinx individuals.
* Must have 501(c)(3) nonprofit status or have a fiscal sponsor with a 501(c)(3) status.
* Must have at least one full year of programming history.
* Must have an active NALAC organization membership (visit www.nalactienda.org to purchase a membership).
Note that a NALAC membership fee for an organization is based on the budget size of the organization and starts at $60.00 annually. If you would like to discuss your membership status as it relates to your NFA application, please contact NALAC Grants via the NALAC Programs Support Desk.
Artists:
* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* Must be based in the U.S. or Puerto Rico.
* Must be a Latinx artist, ensemble, or cultural worker.
