New Mexico Department of Tourism: Clean and BeautifulDeadline: April 4, 2018
New Mexico Clean and Beautiful partners with Keep America Beautiful, its affiliated communities and other municipalities and tribal governments throughout New Mexico. The collective mission is to inspire and educate people to take action everyday that improves and beautifies their community environment. Together, these organizations work to create socially connected, environmentally healthy and economically sound environments that are great places to live and visit.
The purpose of the New Mexico Litter Control and Beautification Act is to control litter to the maximum practical extent through a state-coordinated plan of education, control, prevention, and elimination. To this end, eligible entities around the state work with the New Mexico Department of Tourism to develop and sustain Keep America Beautiful programs that curb litter and reduce blight and support beautification, recycling, and education initiatives and efforts. Grants support local and tribal communities in identifying projects and events that lend themselves to a more pristine and environmentally friendly state.
