New Mexico Public Education Department: K-3 Plus and 4&5 Pilot Summer 2019
Qualifying districts/state charters are encouraged to apply for the K–3 Plus and 4&5 Pilot Summer 2019 program (K-5 Plus). The 4&5 Pilot program expands the extended school year program to 4th and 5th graders. The K–5 Plus program is a 25-day extension of the regular school year, emphasizing literacy and math. The emphasis is on increasing quality instructional time, rather than providing remediation.
Amount: Initial awards are based on projected enrollment from the application and past enrollment history (see the NM Public Education Department’s Technical Assistance Guide for more details regarding funding specifics).
Eligibility: The K–3 Plus program is available to schools where at least 80% of students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, or schools with a D or F overall school grade for the prior school year. K–3 Plus programs must be scheduled within two months of the upcoming school year.
