Society of Environmental Journalists: Fund for Environmental JournalismDeadline: November 15, 2019
The Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) seeks proposals for story grants on U.S. public lands. Story proposals that reflect diverse perspectives (including, but not limited to, gender, racial, ethnic, and economic diversity) are encouraged.
Amount: Applicants may request up to $5,000.
Eligibility: SEJ members in good standing may apply with no fee, as can members of diversity journalism associations (e.g., National Association of Hispanic Journalists, National Association of Black Journalists, Native American Journalists Association, Asian American Journalists Association, South Asian Journalists Association, Association of LGBTQ Journalists). Non-members whose professional work meets SEJ’s membership eligibility requirements may apply with a $40 fee.
Any journalist may apply unless he or she is a member of the Society of Environmental Journalists board of directors, staff, or Fund for Environmental Journalism (FEJ) grantee selection jury. Prospective applicants who previously served on the SEJ board of directors, staff, or FEJ grantee selection jury must observe a one-year blackout period before applying.
