The Impact Fund
The Impact Fund makes grants to lawyers, law firms, and nonprofit organizations involved in impact litigation. Most awarded grants are for one particular case, but occasionally fund a series of cases bound by a common strategy. The Impact Fund supports civil rights, human rights, anti-poverty, and environmental justice cases that will affect a marginalized group.
Applicants must be seeking funding for a specific case targeting a social, economic, or environmental justice. Cases must be class action, or have systemic impact in another way. Multi-plaintiff and environmental justice cases that aim to significantly affect a larger system are also funded. Applicants must be seeking funding for out-of-pocket litigation expenses and be willing to repay the grant if they recover fees at the end of the case.
Amount: Grants range from $5,000-$25,000.
Eligibility: Law firms and nonprofit legal organizations.
