U.S. National Archives and Records Administration: Access to Historical Records – Archival Projects
The Access to Historical Records – Archival Projects initiative will support projects that ensure online public discovery and use of historical records collections. All types of historical records are eligible, including documents, photographs, born-digital records, and analog audio and moving images. Projects may preserve and process historical records to:
- Create new online Finding Aids to collections
- Digitize historical records collections and make them freely available online
Applicant organizations are encouraged to actively engage the public in the work of the project.
Amount: A total of $700,000 is available to make up to 10 grants of up to $100,000 each. The project period is for one or two years. Cost sharing is required; no more than 75 percent of total project costs will be awarded.
Eligibility: Nonprofit organizations or institutions; colleges, universities, and other academic institutions; state or local government agencies; federally-acknowledged or state-recognized Native American tribes or groups.
