Walmart Foundation: State Giving Program – Hunger Relief
Through the State Giving Program, the Walmart Foundation awards grants at the state and regional levels to support unmet needs not directly addressed by other Walmart Foundation programs. To help facilitate this process, the Foundation has created State Giving Advisory Councils, made up of Walmart store associates, for every state. The Advisory Councils determine the needs within their state, review all eligible state specific grant applications and make funding recommendations to the Foundation.
The State Giving Program will accept applications within the scope of hunger relief during Cycle Two (see note below about cycles). Hunger relief examples include food pantries, backpack programs, and SNAP outreach.
Amount: Grants range from $25,000-$200,000 and average $40,000.
Eligibility: Tax-exempt, nonprofit organizations. Giving is on a national basis in areas of company operations.
Note: Applications are accepted during designated periods, or cycles. All states have two application cycles annually. New Mexico is included within Cycles Two and Three. Cycle Two will accept applications from May 8-12, 2017. Cycle Three will accept applications in hunger relief and community engagement between August 7-11, 2017.
