Walmart Foundation: State Giving Program
Through the State Giving Program, the Walmart Foundation awards grants at the state and regional levels to support unmet needs not directly addressed by other Walmart Foundation programs. To help facilitate this process, the Foundation has created State Giving Advisory Councils, made up of Walmart store associates, for every state. The Advisory Councils determine the needs within their state, review all eligible state specific grant applications and make funding recommendations to the Foundation. Grantmaking is focused on four core areas of support:
- Hunger Relief/Healthy Eating, including nutrition literacy and breakfast in the classroom
- Sustainability, focusing on farming
- Women’s Economic Empowerment, which supports women through workforce development and/or higher education opportunities at both the state and national levels
- Career Opportunity, which provides opportunities through job training and placement, career advice, and greater access to the resources that help people become self-sufficient
The current cycle is focused on Hunger Relief/Healthy Eating and Career Opportunity.
Amount: $25,000-$250,000 with the average range being $25,000-$50,000.
Eligibility: Tax-exempt, nonprofit organizations. Giving is on a national basis in areas of company operations.
