Yelp Foundation: Gives Local ProgramDeadline: August 31, 2016
The Yelp Foundation was established in 2011 with one percent of company equity. Its mission is to support charitable organizations and activities addressing the needs of local communities, including access to information, education, local economic development, and freedom of expression, and to promote a culture of philanthropy among employees of Yelp Inc.
Yelp Foundation Gives Local is a contest that allows nonprofits in communities across the U.S. to win grants through votes from the local community. Each nominated nonprofit must support the Yelp Foundation’s mission, including providing access to information, education, local economic development, and freedom of expression.
In order to participate in the Yelp Foundation Gives Local contest, nonprofits must nominate themselves by August 31, 2016. Based on submissions, the Yelp Foundation Board will choose three organizations as finalists in each of its U.S. markets to advance to the voting portion of the contest. Voting will take place between November 29 and December 9, 2016.
Amount: The Yelp Foundation will grant $5,000 to the organization with the most votes at the end of the campaign. The second and third place winners will be granted $3,000 and $2,000 respectively.
Eligibility: Nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status located in a Yelp U.S. market. In New Mexico, this includes Albuquerque.
