The Grant Plant routinely reviews funder websites and notices and is pleased to share some upcoming opportunities with you.

Justice for Families Program

  • Deadline: January 17, 2025
  • Purpose: To enhance the civil and criminal justice system’s response to families with histories of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, or child sexual abuse through programs like court-based initiatives, supervised visitation, and training for court system professionals.
  • Award Size: $600,000–$700,000 per award for approximately 20 awards
  • Eligibility: Nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status, State, county, city, or township governments, Federally recognized Native American tribal governments, and other tribal organizations, courts, victim service providers, and legal service providers.

William T. Grant Foundation: Research Grants on Reducing Inequality

  • Deadline: January 8, 2025, at 3:00 PM EST
  • Purpose: To support research that builds, tests, or enhances understanding of programs, policies, or practices aimed at reducing inequality in academic, social, behavioral, or economic outcomes for U.S. youth aged 5–25.
  • Award Size: Major Research Grants range from $100,000 to $600,000 over 2–3 years, including up to 15% indirect costs. Officers’ Research Grants range from $25,000 to $50,000 over 1–2 years, also including up to 15% indirect costs.
  • Eligibility: Tax-exempt organizations, including universities and nonprofit research institutions. The Foundation encourages proposals from underrepresented organizations, such as Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic-serving Institutions, Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), Alaska Native-Serving Institutions, Native Hawaiian-Serving Institutions, and Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISIs).

Caplan Foundation for Early Childhood

  • Deadline: Letters of intent: January 31, 2025
  • Purpose: To fund innovative projects improving the welfare of U.S. children (0–7 years) in parenting education, early childhood welfare, and education/play.
  • Award Size: Seed funding for projects with national impact (max 15% for overhead; only first year funded for multi-year projects).
  • Eligibility: U.S.-based organizations. Excludes programs outside the U.S., religious/political projects, or operational expansions.

City of Santa Fe Cultural Investment Funding Program

  • Deadline: The Intent to Apply period opens on December 1, 2024, and closes on January 5, 2025, at 5:00 pm MST. Full applications will be accepted from January 6, 2025, at 8:00 am MST until March 15, 2025, at 6:00 pm MST.
  • Purpose: The Cultural Investment Funding Program supports nonprofit arts organizations through two categories: (1) Traditional Marketing Impact (TMI): Provides funding for national, international, and regional marketing and advertising of programming. Designed for nonprofit arts groups that do not wish to collaborate with organizations outside their sphere. (2) Collaborative Impact (CI): Encourages organizations to collaborate and create multidisciplinary programmatic content that promotes storytelling and advances the artistic vibrancy and cultural assets of Santa Fe through in-person and/or digital experiences.
  • Award Size: TMI: $15,000, CI: $30,000
  • Eligibility: TMI: Nonprofit arts organizations with budgets corresponding to the specified categories; CI: Collaborations must originate from at least one lead arts nonprofit organization in partnership with other nonprofits or arts collectives.

Science Discovery on Main Street Grant Program

  • Deadline: January 3, 2025
  • Purpose: This grant program, funded by Simons Foundation International and administered by Main Street America, aims to assist rural Main Street communities in uncovering and leveraging their unique scientific assets, history, and features. The initiative seeks to build local pride and create engaging local attractions and activities through partnerships and programming.
  • Award Size: Twelve Discovery Grants of $12,500 each are available. After the Discovery Grant period, up to seven communities may receive Implementation Grants to execute their plans.
  • Eligibility: Designated Main Street America communities located in rural areas with populations of 50,000 or less. Applicants must be committed to creating science engagement opportunities for residents through their Main Street organization and/or by leveraging partnerships. The organization’s annual operating budget must be less than $1 million.

America’s Healthy Food Financing Initiative: Food Access and Retail Expansion (FARE) Fund

  • Deadline: Funding Inquiry Forms are due by March 3, 2025. Additional rounds are anticipated, with subsequent deadlines on August 4, 2025. Loans and technical assistance applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
  • Purpose: The HFFI FARE Fund aims to improve access to healthy foods in underserved areas by supporting innovative fresh food retail and food system enterprises. The program provides financial and technical assistance for the pre-development, planning, and implementation of eligible food retail and food retail supply chain projects, thereby enhancing food supply chain resiliency, creating quality jobs, and revitalizing low-income communities.
  • Award Size: Grants of up to $250,000 for implementation projects and up to $100,000 for early-stage planning, predevelopment, and technical assistance; Loans: Amounts range from $500,000 to $5,000,000.
  • Eligibility: Eligible applicants include for-profit, nonprofit, and cooperative organizations, as well as institutions of higher education and state and local governments. Projects must focus on improving access to healthy, fresh, and affordable foods in underserved communities. Applicants are required to submit a Funding Inquiry Form to determine eligibility before being invited to submit a full application.

Institute of Education Sciences Research Training Programs in the Education Sciences

  • Deadline: March 7, 2025
  • Purpose: The Institute for Education Sciences (IES) is inviting applications for the Research Training Programs in the Education Sciences for Fiscal Year 2025. These programs aim to train and mentor students and researchers, encouraging their entry into and success in education research careers. The four training programs include: (1) Early Career Development and Mentoring Program for Education Research; (2) Pathways to the Education Sciences Training Program; (3) Predoctoral Interdisciplinary Research Training Program in the Education Sciences; and (4) Methods Training for Education Researchers
  • Award Size: The estimated range of awards varies by topic and scope.
  • Eligibility: Eligible applicants include institutions of higher education, nonprofit and for-profit organizations, and public and private agencies with the capacity to conduct scientifically valid research. Specific eligibility criteria vary by program; applicants should refer to the relevant Request for Applications (RFA) for detailed information.

Historic Preservation Fund – Tribal Heritage Grants

  • Deadline: February 27, 2025
  • Purpose: To support federally recognized Tribes, Alaska Native Villages/Corporations, and Native Hawaiian Organizations in cultural and historic preservation projects. This program helps protect traditional skills, oral history, culturally significant species, sacred and historic places, and establish tribal historic preservation offices.
  • Award Size: $15,000–$75,000 (total funding: $600,000)
  • Eligibility: Federally recognized Tribes, Alaska Native Villages/Corporations, and Native Hawaiian Organizations as defined by 54 USC § 300309, 300313, and 300314. Sites or collections owned/leased by the NPS or where the NPS holds a property interest are not eligible.

Just Leaders for a Just Health System

  • Deadline: Phase 1: January 15, 2025; Phase 2: April 2, 2025
  • Purpose: To dismantle structural racism in healthcare by supporting 12 interdisciplinary teams from healthcare organizations and communities. Teams will address systemic inequities, focusing on shifting how racism is measured or removing racism from clinical, operational, and administrative practices.
  • Award Size: $300,000 over two years ($400,000 for safety-net institutions).
  • Eligibility: Nonprofit and for-profit healthcare organizations delivering services to historically underserved populations. Teams must include healthcare and community leaders, patients with lived experience, and senior leadership committed to health equity.

Rural Health Care Services Outreach Program

  • Deadline: January 27, 2025
  • Purpose: To improve and expand healthcare services in rural areas through community-based projects. The program encourages innovative approaches to address rural health disparities and strengthen local healthcare resources and capacity by supporting collaborative consortiums of three or more healthcare providers.
  • Award Size: Estimated total program funding is $13,000,000; average award size: $250,000.
  • Eligibility: Domestic public or private, nonprofit, and for-profit entities, including state and local governments, healthcare organizations, rural health clinics, federally qualified health centers, tribal governments, and higher education institutions. Exceptions for tribal EIN requirements are available.
