Grant Watch: Week of 4/06/26

The Grant Plant routinely reviews funder websites and notices and is pleased to share some upcoming opportunities with you.

21st Century Community Learning Centers for SY26-27
  • Deadline: April 17, 2026 (Required LOI); April 24, 2026 (Full proposal)
  • Purpose: To support high‐quality, community‐connected learning opportunities outside of the regular instructional day that support whole‐child development across New Mexico’s diverse communities. Funding supports the creation or expansion of community learning centers that provide: Academic enrichment that reinforces and complements the regular academic program; A broad array of youth development opportunities; and Meaningful family engagement opportunities. The 21st CCLC program is funded through the U.S. Department of Education, via NMPED. Priority populations to be served: programs must primarily serve students who attend schools eligible under ESSA §4204(i), including schools identified for Comprehensive or Targeted Support and Improvement or schools serving high-poverty communities. PED will give priority to applications proposing to serve students who primarily attend: Schools implementing Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) or Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI); or Schools identified by the LEA as in need of academic intervention and support; and Students at risk of academic failure, dropping out, or involvement in delinquent activities, and the families of such students.   • Award Size: $1,500 to $2,000 per student for up to five years.
  • Eligibility: Local school districts; charter schools; education service districts (ESDs); tribes or tribal organizations; educational consortia; non-profit agencies; city or county government agencies; faith and community-based organizations; institutions of higher education; and for-profit corporations. Partnerships required (see solicitation for details).

HB2 Out-of-School Time Request for Proposals
  • Deadline: April 17, 2026 (Required LOI); April 24, 2026 (Full proposal)
  • Purpose: To support supports high-quality learning opportunities that occur outside the regular instructional day. HB2 OST programs are intended to: Expand access to enrichment and academic support; Strengthen student engagement and school attendance; Provide safe learning environments; Connect students and families with community resources; and Support the whole-child development of New Mexico students. The HB2 OST program is funded through the New Mexico General Appropriations Act (House Bill 2). Priority populations to be served: Students experiencing academic challenges or chronic absenteeism; Middle school youth (grades 6–8); Students in rural or Tribal communities; Students with limited access to enrichment programming; and Students who may benefit from mentoring, leadership development, or career exploration.
  • Award Size: Unspecified, but funding will be for up to three years.
  • Eligibility: Local school districts; charter schools; education service districts (ESDs); tribes or tribal organizations; educational consortia; non-profit agencies; city or county government agencies; faith and community-based organizations; institutions of higher education; and for-profit corporations. Applicants may apply independently or as part of a joint consortium. Partnerships encouraged, but not required (see solicitation for details).

Highly Rural Transportation Grants (HRTG)
  • Deadline: May 5, 2026
  • Purpose: To help Veterans in highly rural areas travel to VA or VA-authorized health care facilities by providing grant funding for transportation programs in counties with fewer than seven people per square mile.
  • Award Size: Up to $50,000 per grant for each highly rural area serviced
  • Eligibility: Veteran Service Organizations and State Veterans Service Agencies that provide transportation services in eligible highly rural counties.

Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program
  • Deadline: May 26, 2026
  • Purpose: To fund regional, local, and Tribal initiatives through grants to prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries. The program supports the National Roadway Safety Strategy and the goal of zero roadway deaths using a Safe System Approach.
  • Award Size: Implementation grants: Expected funding range: $2,500,000 – $25,000,000; Planning and Demonstration grants: Expected funding range: $100,000 – $5,000,000
  • Eligibility: Metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), political subdivisions of a State or territory (e.g., counties, cities, towns, special districts, transit agencies, and similar units of local government), and federally recognized Tribal governments.

Nature Awards AI for Discovery
  • Deadline: May 27, 2026
  • Purpose: To recognize and support research teams harnessing artificial intelligence and machine learning to accelerate solutions to pressing societal challenges across three categories: health and life sciences; energy, environment and agriculture; and industry, infrastructure and manufacturing.
  • Award Size: Four finalists will each receive a $10,000 development grant and access to a bespoke virtual training program. One overall winner will also receive tailored, one-to-one coaching.
  • Eligibility: Research groups based at universities, research institutes, hospitals, government, or not-for-profit organizations.

Oral Health International Foundation Grants
  • Deadline: June 1, 2026
  • Purpose: To provide financial grants that support communities and individuals in need of dental care. The foundation focuses on innovative projects in all areas of oral health, placing a special emphasis on programs that increase access and provide care to deserving but inadequately served populations. Eligible funding items include small and large instruments, disposable medical equipment and supplies, instrument rental, and lab fees.
  • Award Size: Not specified
  • Eligibility: Applicants must be a registered 501(c)(3) organization and provide an IRS Letter of Determination. Non-USA applicants must submit a tax-exempt certificate. Organizations can receive a grant for two consecutive years before having to skip one year.

Long-term Enhanced ACO Design (LEAD) Model
  • Deadline: May 17, 2026
  • Purpose: To increase the scope of Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) by including more small, rural, and independent healthcare providers, enhancing evidence-based prevention and care coordination (especially for high-needs patients), and empowering patients to be actively involved in their care. The model features a 10-year pathway toward sustainable benchmarks and flexible, capitated population-based payments.
  • Award Size: Not a traditional set grant amount. The model provides flexible capitated population-based payments (e.g., Primary Care Capitation, Total Care Capitation, Advanced Payment Option) and two voluntary risk-sharing options (Global Risk: up to 100% of savings/losses; Professional Risk: up to 50% of savings/losses) relative to an established performance benchmark.
  • Eligibility: Health care providers, including current ACOs, Medicare fee-for-service providers that have historically not participated in ACOs, and providers serving underserved populations such as Federally Qualified Health Centers, Rural Health Clinics, and those with a high proportion of dually eligible individuals.

Media Projects
  • Deadline: June 25, 2026
  • Purpose: To support the development, production, and distribution of radio programs, podcasts, and documentary films that engage general audiences with humanities ideas in creative and appealing ways.
  • Award Size: Total estimated funding is $6,000,000, with an award ceiling of $700,000 and an award floor of $1.
  • Eligibility: Private institutions of higher education, city or township governments, special district governments, nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, county governments, federally recognized Native American tribal governments, state governments, and public and State controlled institutions of higher education.
