Reframing Your Grant Language: Finding Alignment Without Losing Your Mission

Federal grant seeking has always required adaptation. Each new administration reshapes the landscape, shifting priorities and expectations for what fundable work looks like. The question for today’s grant professionals is not only how to keep track of these changes, but how to respond in a way that is both strategic and true to their, and their organization’s, core values.

We’ve created a training to help grant writers and organizational leaders reframe their narratives to be more competitive in today’s Federal landscape. The session covers:

  • Administrative priorities and Federal funding trends that are shaping opportunities in 2025 (and beyond).
  • Practical strategies for demonstrating alignment with Federal priorities without compromising mission.
  • Ethical guardrails—from the False Claims Act to the GPA Code of Ethics—that protect both organizations and staff.
  • Decision-making tools, including two checklists, “Finding Common Ground with Trump Administration Priorities” and “Assessing Your Federal Grant Vulnerabilities,” to guide whether Federal funding is the right path for your organization right now.

Sometimes, organizations face the temptation to stretch or repackage programs to chase funding… but mission drift comes at a cost. At The Grant Plant, we believe that organizations must internally assess the alignment between program and funding partner, which comes from identifying the common ground between what funders are prioritizing and what our organizations are already doing (or plan to do). That requires clarity, discipline, and an ethical compass.

At the same time, it’s important to recognize that choosing not to pursue Federal funding can also be a strategic decision. Understanding the current priorities equips us not only to compete more effectively in the Federal space, but also to make stronger appeals to private and philanthropic funders who may resonate with different values if we opt out of Federal grants at this time.

If you want to strengthen your grant writing approach, sharpen your strategic lens, and position your organization for resilience, this webinar is a must watch! You’ll also receive a Federal vulnerability assessment tool to support proactive management and risk analysis.

Note: This session is delivered in a politically neutral way. The focus is on today’s Federal funding reality and different ways that organizations could choose to respond.
